#60MOC February 2018 – Calling Vulcan, The God of Disruption and Volcanic Change

Date(s) - 02/02/2018
8:00 am - 9:00 am

We will be kicking off the year with an exploration of power, change and disruption in a mythical sense.

It can feel like we are pawns in some Modern day version of Clash of the Titans – a war where Gods toy with us mere mortals to test our metal and endurance.

Joseph Campbell tells us that we can we learn from the heroes and heroines of ancient myths and parables. We can learn that their flaws lead them to the bottom of the abyss and it is there they find redemption.

‘at the darkest moment comes the light’

The Power of Myth, Joseph Campbell, 1988

All myths are a journey. A journey inward, a journey of confrontation, trials, tests, and ultimately a journey of personal awareness and transformation.

A recent PMI report revealed that;

‘…some 37 percent of  project management professionals lack clearly defined and/or achievable milestones and objectives to measure progress as the cause of [project] failure…’

2017 Pulse of the Profession

But how realistic is it to expect every project to have clearly defined milestones and achievable objectives when we are navigating major and increasingly more frequent Volcanic level change…where the future is not clear and the goals are yet to reveal themselves and more than ever before the road ahead is virtually uncharted, with few sign posts and almost no recognizable rules.

So what does our Hero’s journey look like, are we a worthy match for Vulcan, the God of Disruption and Volcanic Change?

Join us on our journey on Friday the 2nd of February and lets kick off the first 60MOC for 2018 with a bang!
